Wightlink welcomes Chef Michel Roux Jr to the Isle of Wight

Legendary chef Michel Roux Jr was presented with a basket of Isle of Wight products on his way to the Island with Wightlink to create a memorable meal at leading restaurant, Heron in Ryde.

Captain Dave Booker handed it over on the Bridge of St Faith sailing from Portsmouth to Fishbourne. The basket contained Island Ales, Isle of Wight Salt and Tomato Stall juices and sauces with produce from The Garlic Farm and the Isle of Wight Biscuit Company.

Heron Chef Alex Kimber says he was delighted to welcome the famous chef to his kitchen in Castle Street: “Michel Roux Jr and his family have been leading the culinary scene in the UK for many years and I personally have been greatly influenced by his passion, style of cuisine, and service.”

Wightlink Commercial Director Phil Delaney adds: “We are proud to sell food and drink from Isle of Wight suppliers in our Wight Taste outlets on our ships and at our ports. When we heard Chef Michel was travelling with us, we hatched a plan to ambush him onboard with some top-quality tasty treats.”

Chef Michel was in the kitchen at Heron on Thursday, 23 February. His speciality menu was due to be repeated on the next two evenings for guests who missed out on tables on the original date.
